No Computer

Well, Auntie Joy's computer got a virus, and now the technician in Nadi (1/2 hour away from Lautoka) has resigned, so they have to send it all the way to Suva (4 hours away) to get fixed. So, we have not been able to check email or call home or update our blog for a week now.

We go home tomorrow night! It's hard to believe our trip is nearing an end. In some ways we are ready to get home. In other ways, we wish we could stay longer, and we will miss everyone here.

This week was our biggest sight-seeing/touristy week. :) Wednesday some more guests came to stay at Aunty Joy's, and we went to the Club to go swimming, and then after lunch went back out to Bakana, where we did NOT go kayaking again. :) Instead we just relaxed, and walked around a little, and saw some fishermen catch a morey eel.

Thursday we went to Natadola beach, recommended to us as the most beautiful beach on this side, and it truly was beautiful. We really enjoyed our time there, jumping waves and sitting in the sun. I guess the waves can get really rough there, but we got an unusually calm day.

Friday we enjoyed a hike to Abaca (pronounced Ambatha). It was a beautiful hike up into the mountains, following a thin and very muddy and rocky trail up to a waterfall, and then through very tall grasses on the hike back down. The grass was taller than we were. The waterfall was beautiful, and towards the end of the hike, there was another pool area in the river, and most of us went swimming. It was lots of fun. That night some other Americans came over for a 4th of July party, and that was also a really nice time with everyone.

Saturday we went on Uncle Chen's boat finally- out to snorkel island. Unfortunately, it was a bit rainy and cloudy the whole time. Only those who went snorkeling right away got to go, and then after lunch there was a volleyball game, and then we had to head home before the sea got too rough, or the tide got too low! That night we had a lovo- a meal cooked in the ground- a traditional Fijian way of cooking. Dan and Kelara and their family brought the food over to Aunty Joy's house because of the rain, and we had a nice time with them as well.

Sunday we played at the Bible Church in the morning- 5 different churches from the area were invited to that service, and we had about 35 minutes to do a concert. We rested in the afternoon, and then played a concert that evening at Lautoka SPEF (South Pacific Evangelical Fellowship) Church. That was also a meaningful time and service, an hour and a half long concert, and they had tea for us afterwards (and all kinds of cookies, sandwiches, etc.).

Yesterday was our day to buy some souveniers. We spent about 5 hours walking around downtown Lautoka :)

Today, we helped Aunty Joy run some errands, and now we're trying to make quick use of our computer time downtown to catch everyone up!

Thanks for your continued prayers. Please pray for safety in our travel home tomorrow. We look forward to catching up with you and sharing our pictures and memories!

In Christ's love, Andrew and Angela
